A client with complex needs is defined as having “several intense and critical needs that require support from multiple services” (Department of Social Services, 2016).
Complex needs refer to disabilities, health needs, mental health issues, substance/alcohol abuse, suicide attempts/self-harm history, homelessness (primary or secondary), housing instability, domestic and family violence, legal issues, child/youth and welfare concerns.
